The 2020 Virginia Dares Cinematic Arts Awards (VDCAA) in the US has awarded Iranian short film ‘Elephantbird’.

The award-winning short received the Best Film award at the VDCAA.

Written and directed by Amir-Masoud Soheili, the 15-minute flick is an adaptation of an Afghan short story.

The film is about an old Afghan man who wishes to give his elephant-bird (turkey) to his grandchild, but this simple wish is hard to realize.

‘Elephantbird’ has been presented at several international film festivals, including the AVANCA - International Meeting of Cinema, TV, Video, and Multimedia in Portugal, the Batumi International Art-House Film Festival in Georgia, and the Sedicicorto International Film Festival in Italy, where it won the Special Jury Award.

The 2020 VDCAA intends to present outstanding media works to the audience.
